Troubleshooting

Quick checks, error codes, and common fixes for the Ezyhot RV Tankless Hot Water System. Repairs must only be carried out by a certified service technician.

Try a reset first

If the appliance malfunctions, an audible alarm may sound and an error code will show on the wall controller. Before digging into the tables below:

1. Turn the water heater power switch OFF (you can open a hot water tap or shower).
2. Wait 5 seconds.
3. Turn the appliance back ON.

If the error code returns, use the guides below. If the problem persists, contact your dealer or an authorised service technician.

Wall controller

Error codes

Eu: Under / over voltage

Cause: Vehicle voltage is outside the safe operating range (under voltage around 9.5 to 10V, over voltage around 16.7 to 17.3V).

Solution: Check the vehicle voltage and resolve unstable supply before restarting.

En: 20 minute timeout

Cause: Continuous runtime reached the 20 minute safety limit. This is a built in protection feature, not a fault.

Solution: Power the unit off and on to reset, then continue use.

E0: Outlet temperature sensor

Cause: Water outlet temperature sensor or system fault.

Solution: Check outlet sensor wiring. If loose, tighten. If secure, the sensor may need replacement by a technician.

E1: Flame sense fault

Cause: Insufficient fuel to start, low gas inlet pressure, or flame sensor / system failure.

Solution: Confirm all gas valves are open and restart (allow 4 to 5 minutes on first use). Check fuel level and regulator. If the fault continues, a technician may need to replace the flame sensor, induction system, or PCB.

E2: Fake flame signal

Cause: Flame sensor or main control board / software fault.

Solution: Service required. The main control board may need replacement.

E3: Over temperature sensor

Cause: Thermostat / over temperature protection trip.

Solution: Allow cold water to flow for 10 to 20 seconds, then restart. If E3 remains, check water flow. If flow is normal, have the thermostat inspected.

E4: Inlet temperature sensor

Cause: Water inlet temperature sensor or system fault.

Solution: Check inlet sensor wiring. If loose, tighten. If secure, the sensor may need replacement.

E5: Air pressure / exhaust fault

Cause: Exhaust blockage, or high winds blowing into the exhaust.

Solution: Clear any obstruction and restart. If wind related, reorient the RV so the exhaust is not facing high winds, then restart.

E6: Temperature surge alarm

Cause: Cold water surge, mix ratio issues, insufficient supply/flow, or sensor fault.

Solution: Reduce toilet flushing and cold taps during use. Lower the temperature setting. Confirm the water tank is full or city water is fully open and bleed air from lines. Check for a blocked inlet filter and ensure minimum flow (~1.2 L/min). Persistent faults may need outlet sensor or PCB replacement.

E7: Solenoid valve fault

Cause: Solenoid valve or system fault.

Solution: Check solenoid valve wiring for loose or broken connections. Service if required.

E8: Fan speed over limit

Cause: During combustion, fan speed exceeded the load limit for five consecutive seconds.

Solution: Check the fan air inlet for obstruction and restart.

Quick guide

Common problems

No hot water at the tap

Possible causes: Gas supply off or interrupted, empty gas tank, appliance switched off, or an active error code.

Try this: Turn on / check the gas supply, refill or replace the tank, switch the appliance on per the operating instructions, then check the error code list if it still fails.

Hot water takes longer to reach temperature

Possible causes: Cold water mixing into the hot line, high elevation, or unusually cold inlet water.

Try this: Confirm valves inside and outside the RV are closed and the shower head is not partially open. Reduced performance at altitude is normal. For very cold inlet water, refer to water control valve adjustment in the manual.

Hot water temperature too low

Possible causes: Gas flow / inlet pressure too low, hot water flow too high, or inlet water too cold.

Try this: Confirm the gas supply can deliver the required volume (consult RV docs or a technician). Reduce hot water flow at the tap/shower or mix more cold. A technician can install a flow throttle if needed.

Water escaping at the pressure safety valve

Possible causes: Cold water mixing into the hot side, system pressure too high, or debris under the relief valve seat.

Try this: Close all valves; ensure the shower head is not partially closed. Keep pump pressure at a max of 450 kPa. Use a regulator on town water above that. After cooling, slowly operate the PRV to flush debris. Replacement must be done by a certified technician.

Water leaking at the water inlet filter

Cause: Lime or dirt under the O-ring seals.

Solution: Clean the O-rings and sealing surfaces with clean water.

Unit stops often / water in the drainage tray

Cause: The unit may be overheating and the pressure relief valve is discharging periodically.

Solution: Contact an authorised service technician.

Remote / controller has no display

Possible causes: Power off, blown fuse, or incorrect power wire polarity.

Try this: Switch power to the appliance on. Replace a standard 125V/10A fuse if needed. If polarity is reversed, swap the positive and negative power connections (only if you are competent to do so. Otherwise use a technician).

Safety note

Do not attempt to repair the appliance yourself. Installation and repairs must be performed by a qualified installer or certified service technician. Keep intake and exhaust openings clear, and always use a working carbon monoxide detector in the RV.
